Oklahoma Marriage Requirements

Appear before the county clerk (if an applicant cannot personally appear, then any adult or the other applicant may appear on behalf of the absent applicant.);

Submit proof of identity and age;

Provide applicable information in the application; and

Take the oath and sign the application before the county clerk.

Pay the fees.

Applicants for the marriage license must be at least 18 years old to get married without consent

A person under the age of 18 must have parents' permission.

There are no residency requirements.

There is no blood test requirement.

Two witnesses are required in Oklahoma.

This is one reason Oklahoma is great for destination weddings!

If you are 18 or over, there is no waiting period. Those aged 16 and 17 must wait 72 hours after obtaining the license before you can marry.

The license expires 10 days from date it’s issued. It must be filed within 5 days of the wedding. Once the license has expired, it can’t be used to get married; you will have to apply for a new license.

The fees are typically $50.

If a couple attends the state of Oklahoma-approved marriage education course, then the course drops to $5 plus any county portion of the fees.

When applying for a marriage license, each applicant must indicate that he or she has not been divorced within the last 6 months (unless the applicants were divorced from each other).
